About Me

1JK: Hello First Graders and Parents! My name is Jenny Kwok. I am a 1st grade teacher at The American International School of Muscat. This is my second year teaching in Oman and I am loving it! My hometown is Toronto, Canada, but I am originally from Hong Kong. My family and I moved to Canada when I was 10 years old. Both my parents are teachers so I have always wanted to become a teacher like them since I was young. After gaining my Bachelor's degree in Music, I pursued another Bachelor's degree in Education at the University of Toronto. After that, I taught music and 4th grade for 3 years at a public school in the suburb of Toronto. In 2007 I moved to New York City to pursue my graduate studies at Columbia University. I had a great time back then because I got a chance to teach and visit many schools in such a diversified city. I taught 4th grade and Kindergarten in Brooklyn for two years as a Literacy teacher. In my spare time I like to read, watch a movie, do yoga or go biking. I also love to play the piano (but I can only do it in Canada because I don't have a piano here in Oman). When I get a long holiday, I like visiting my mom and dad who are still living in Toronto, Canada.
